Bethesda is located in Montgomery County and is one of the affluent Washington suburbs. A highly-educated work force and thousands of employers, including the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda Naval Hospital, Lockheed Martin, and Marriott contribute to this prosperous community.
Downtown Bethesda provides a festive urban community featuring a variety of restaurants, live theaters, and art galleries. Bethesda is also home to two vibrant farmers' markets, the Montgomery Farm Woman's Cooperative Market and the Bethesda Farmer's Market. Bethesda real estate is very popular among young families interested in buying a modest home as well as those interested in luxury homes for sale. Bethesda homes for sale include many older, lovely established neighborhoods, as well as new developments, that are ideal for buying a home for real estate investment. Luxury homes over $2M are found in many of the neighborhoods in this desirable city, as well as its close neighbor Chevy Chase real estate. Tear downs and large renovations have created many homes with today's modern features and the timeless qualities of our Bethesda enclaves.
Probably more than any other reason I hear, people like to buy Bethesda real estate because of the access to nationally ranked schools. Bethesda's primary public high schools were ranked by Newsweek Magazine in 2006 as among the best in the country. Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School was ranked 34th nationally, Walter Johnson High School ranked 101st and Walt Whitman High School was ranked 116th. Close behind in reasons for locating here are the proximity to D.C. and older established neighborhoods. The average price for homes is reflected in that and I will be happy to help you find the home that is right for you by searching the Bethesda MLS Listings for you to find properties matching your criteria.
The Madonna of the Trail, one of 12 statues throughout the country, is located off Wisconsin Avenue and nearby is the Bethesda Post Office, a downtown hub. Starting in the heart of downtown Bethesda, is the beloved Capital Crescent Trail which follows the old tracks of the B&O Railroad stretching from Georgetown, Washington, D.C. to Silver Spring, MD. This trail is actively used by walkers and bikers!
Bethesda is also home to three country clubs: Burning Tree Club, Congressional Country Club, and Bethesda Country Club. Columbia Country Club is in nearby Chevy Chase, MD as is the Chevy Chase Club.
